New Voice of Canmore
After taking a hiatus on the Voices of Canmore project over the summer, Protecting our Futures is gearing up to get more voices out there. Hear what long time resident Sian Barraclough (Voice of Canmore) has to say about respecting Canmore's well-established governing documents.
“While I am not opposed to the development of a spa and hotel in Canmore, I am opposed to a spa and hotel on this land. And, the decision to not allow this development on this land should not be a difficult one. We are lucky to have had the foresight to undertake comprehensive and objective reviews and processes years ago, to establish what should be built where in Canmore and the Bow Valley and to maintain space for wildlife. We only need to respect these frameworks – both the Municipal Development Plan and Wildlife Corridor and Habitat Patch Guidelines – to conclude that this is the wrong place for the proposed spa and hotel.”
If you are interested in adding your voice to this project, please contact us at protectingourfutures@gmail.com. We would love to hear from you.

Did you Attend the TrailHaus Open House for the Glamping Proposal? A Message from our Friends at the Canmore Staircase Lands Group:
Dear Neighbours,
We once again need your help.
As we transition to Autumn, the developers for the Staircase Lands Proposal (PL20250514) have resubmitted their newest glamping plans to the Town of Canmore for review. A decision could be made by the Canmore Planning Commission within a month or two. To date, the public has not been able to review the full submission, nor the assessments completed.
You may have also received a letter from the developer, seen the TrailHaus branding on social media, or come across the newest article in the Rocky Mountain Outlook. We anticipate the developer will craft a “Community Insights Report,” as requested by the Town of Canmore, to create a narrative that supports their proposals, based on feedback to the vague information displayed at the Open House. As a community, we will continue to engage in the process to question and challenge the merits of the proposal.
Our next step is to author our own grassroots Community Insights Report based on direct feedback from your experiences of the TrailHaus Open House. If you could take 3 minutes to complete this survey by October 4, 2026, and provide any additional comments, we would be so grateful. Your answers and comments will remain anonymous.
If you attended the open house, please take the survey!

Thank you for your time and advocacy for our community, our environment and our wildlife.
